Quality control of liquid samples without the measurement of density and refractive index is difcult

to imagine today. Digital instruments have helped to make the determination of these two param-

eters much more important in routine quality assurance.

High resolution instruments alone do not, however, guarantee accurate measurements because the

results can still be inuenced by the operator or by sample-related effects. METTLER TOLEDO mea-

surement systems simplify the determination of density and refractive index and ensure that incor-

rect measurements are either impossible or become immediately apparent.
